EXPLORING THE ARTS: Juniors speak on their experience in unique art electives at Northwood

I think the most important lesson that culinary has taught me isn’t about food itself. A big part of culinary is actually learning how to work in a team because we always cook as a group. My favorite food that I made so far was probably the stir fry, but I also really enjoyed making the pasta and tacos.
—Bayan Agahi, Intro to Culinary

Before taking Computer Graphics, I never realized how useful Photoshop is in real life. We edit photos and design graphics all the time, and learning from a teacher just adds to the quality of our work. My favorite project was designing logos because, not only did I do the creative elements, but I also had to investigate how logos can be effectively created.
—Alex Tan, Computer Graphics

One unique thing about Ceramics is that you have a lot of freedom when it comes to your projects. You don’t need a teacher giving you assignments, which helps you express your creativity. For example, my most memorable experience was making a 12-inch tall pot because it was such a unique project.

Screen Printing taught me a lot about utilizing applications like Adobe Illustrator, and these apps introduced me to a lot more ways to tackle certain projects that involve art. I think that something that really sets Screen Printing apart is that you actually get to put your designs on shirts and clothing, which is something that you wear every day.

If it wasn’t obvious already, he loves taking photos, and can be seen stalking people around the school (only for Howler of course).
