Why do teachers have so many college flags in their rooms?
Northwood students, though drenched in academic rigor, never fail to make room for some acute observations. Everyone has seen the numerous college flags hanging on the walls of teachers.
“Two of them are from my colleges,” math teacher Ibeth Ortiz Jaime said. “The rest are gifts from students who gave them to me because I wrote their letters of recommendations.”
So, the flags symbolize the appreciation of Northwood alumni. The only exception to this rule might be the College and Career Center. If you‘re delusional, you might believe they’re manifesting your acceptance to all displayed 67 colleges. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
What is the liquid all over the bathroom floors?
Some may wish we had never asked this question at all. But students should know that no matter what’s on the floor, this mysterious liquid is not hazardous. The bathrooms are cleaned daily by staff.
“We use disinfectant to make sure everything is sanitized for the next day,” night custodian Eric Vilchis said. “We use the proper chemicals to make sure they’re ready for use.”
With this reassuring message, maybe everyone will feel much safer entering the bathrooms.
What’s the deal with the bees in the trash cans?
There’s another question that has been buzzing around campus.
“Sometimes, there might be leftover residue on the trash bags or the trash cans,” Vilchis said. “The bees are attracted to the sugary liquids or whatever is stuck on the trash cans.”
There are a lot of probable causes for how these liquids got on the trash cans in the first place, the most likely culprit being students.
“I’ve seen students, not to blame anybody, try to dunk their drinks while playing a game or something,” Vilchis said. “If it’s an open soda can or apple juice box, it gets all over the trash can.”
