Between waiting for Taylor Swift’s next album drop, keeping up with The Summer I Turned Pretty and roller skating her way onto campus, Northwood’s newest counselor, Tiffany Le, brings both relatability and years of experience to her role.
Situated in Room 1036, Le joined Northwood’s counseling team shortly after the current school year had begun, eager to bring her experiences as a counselor for the Santa Ana and Capistrano school districts back to Irvine.
“I have a close connection to the community of Irvine,” Le said. “Having gone to school at UCI for four years and then remaining in the Irvine community working there for another almost four years, I was excited to come back.”
At University of California, Irvine, Le earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in international studies. Shortly after graduating, she worked in freshman programming at her alma mater, helping students navigate college transition programs. She also worked as a college admissions reader for UCI.
“[That role] gave me a lens of how to write a strong personal insight question or personal statements for private colleges,” Le said. “I want to help students put their best foot forward when it comes to applying to their dream schools or even just helping them along their path if college is not the main goal for them.”
Helping others has always been central to her life. At one point, she considered pursuing nursing or social work, but her five summers as an American Red Cross camp counselor ultimately set her path.
“Working with junior high and high school students gave me the taste of how it feels to help people who are going through different experiences feel comfortable, seen and uplifted,” Le said.
At Northwood, she embraces that same philosophy in her interactions with her students. Her main motivation? Getting to know each one and providing support and advice.
“I have experienced feeling a lot of anxiety when it comes to the unknown and not really knowing what’s next,” Le said. “But there’s going to be things out of my control, so I tell myself to just trust the process when experiencing something new.”
While Australia and New Zealand are on her extensive bucket list, Le’s biggest adventure is just beginning right here at Northwood. To chat about the latest Swiftie news or to reach out for support, email Le at [email protected].
