“Coaching has made me more prepared for the future because it’s a way for me to see the sport from a different perspective. I am always on the other side as the swimmer, but in the summer, I’m able to see the sport through the eyes of my coach and it’s a nice change. What I enjoy most is the kids and my peers. I can see myself in some of the younger kids and what an impact Irvine Swim League made on me, inspiring me to join club swimming, so I hope to inspire others as well.”
– Stonegate Seahawks summer swim coach sophomore Aahana Soni
“I played in the Hoops Classic Tournament when I was in elementary and middle school so it was a cool full circle moment. I also had so much guidance during my basketball journey it was from older teammates and coaches that have had such a big impact on me. Now that I’m done playing and I have more time, I wanted to give back. It’s fun to coach because you get to pass on stuff that you learned from experience to the younger guys, and it’s always cool when you’re able to teach someone who’s going through something you’ve gone through before.”
– Sierra Vista eighth grade basketball team coach senior Justin Liu
“I thought coaching kids for volleyball would be a super fun job since I have been playing volleyball for a long time. I’ve grown a mindset to try and work hard so I’m able to make sure the kids enjoy playing volleyball and grow in the sport. I love coaching them, especially the younger ones, because they’re so funny and coachable.”
– Socal Elite volleyball coach sophomore Gwyneth Guevarra
