Northwood celebrated a “Pack Party” themed Homecoming week from Sept. 30-Oct. 5, which featured spirit days, a rally, a football game and a dance.
The Homecoming dance included stations with Nintendo games, snow cones and s’mores for students to take a break from the mosh pit. The dance also had a rotating camera station for students to capture slow-motion videos of the event. Star cutouts with students’ names were placed at the SAC, resembling the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“My favorite part was probably the snow cones,” senior Annabelle Wong said. “I think the new additions like the snacks and games made Homecoming much better because there was a lot more to do.”
Leading up to the dance, ASB organized a Homecoming spirit week featuring themes such as Pajama Party, Quad Squad, Teacher-Student Swap, Y2K and each class’s school colors. Their goal was to unite Northwood as “one pack” and elevate school spirit.
The rally at the end of spirit week showcased performances from ASB, class councils, cheer and Dance Theater. Each class council prepared a dance to hype up their grade level, which included TikTok dances, popular songs and unique outfits like the Senior Class Council’s grandparent costumes.
“I used to do dance so improvising and creating a dance came somewhat easy to me, and I just incorporated some TikTok dances so everyone in the crowd could dance along,” freshman class vice president Shelley Liu said. “All council and ASB performances hypes each class up and brings more of a community where everyone is involved and having fun.”
The class councils also performed during halftime at the Homecoming game, where Northwood lost 6-7 against Laguna Beach. Despite this loss, the student section remained packed, and ASB found creative ways to boost the crowd’s spirit and participation, such as playing “FEIN” by Travis Scott and throwing blue chalk into the air.
“When the seniors finished performing, I felt bursting streamers were a great way to celebrate them,” junior Aditi Jadhav said. “Even though we didn’t win the game, it was memorable because of all the stuff ASB planned in the student section.”
