It is that time of year again. Christmas is around the corner and it’s time to hit the mall (or online markets) for that perfect gift. It’s also the perfect time to give back to those in need, so here are a few places to donate during this holiday season.

CHOC Holiday Toy Drive: The Children’s Hospital of Orange County is accepting new, unwrapped toy donations for their patients from Mondays to Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., until Dec. 19. These toys can also be purchased online through their Amazon wishlist. Donations can also be in the form of gift cards to Amazon, Target, Walmart, Michaels and Visa.

Families Forward: The charity organization is hosting a Teen Holiday Gift Drive to help low-income households who cannot afford to buy a holiday present. Unwrapped donations include, but are not limited to, school supplies, sports equipment, clothing, board games and gift cards. Donations are accepted until Dec. 18. Families Forward also accepts food donations at their locations. For more information, visit www.families-forward.org for their complete wish list.

Operation Santa Claus Donation: The OC Social Services Agency (OCSSA) is hosting Operation Santa Claus to provide gifts to needy children living in foster care, group homes or homelessness in Orange County. These toys can be donated before Christmas at pickup sites throughout the county. Monetary donations are also accepted and collected online.

Senior Santa and Friends Online Donation: Also hosted by the OCSSA, Senior Santa and Friends provides gifts and special request items for disabled adults and the elderly. Through a monetary online donation, household appliances, medical equipment and clothing are purchased and given with the intent of enhancing their quality of life.

Orangewood Children’s Foundation: The Orangewood Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the youth in local communities reach their greatest potential. The foundation is hosting their annual holiday gift drive for young adults transitioning from foster care to adulthood. During this gift drive, the foundation will be accepting new unwrapped gifts, such as gift cards, electronics, clothing and much more. Donations should be dropped off at their location in Santa Ana anytime on Mondays to Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., until Dec. 18.
